No Surprises Act
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost.
What this means
Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost if you are uninsured, or if you are insured but choose not to use your insurance.
What you can expect from us
- We will give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing before you begin care, and any time you ask for one.
- You can ask for one before you schedule, and we will provide it within the timeframes the law requires.
- The estimate covers the services we reasonably expect to provide. Because counseling is ongoing, it reflects an expected course of care rather than a single fixed total.
- You will always be told the fee for a session before that session happens.
If your bill is higher than your estimate
If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute it. You may start a dispute within 120 days of the date on the bill. There is a fee to use the dispute process, and the provider cannot move the bill to collections or charge late fees while the dispute is being decided.
Keep your estimate
Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate somewhere safe. You may need it if you ever want to dispute a bill.
