Questions

Before you reach out

Insurance, fees, what a first session is like, and whether you need to be “bad enough” to come in.

How often will we meet?
Weekly sessions are strongly recommended for the first four to six weeks. That consistency is what builds momentum early on. As progress allows, many clients move to every other week or monthly.
Do you accept insurance?
We're in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Healthy Blue and Wellcare. Coverage varies by plan, so we can't guarantee your specific plan is in network. Contact your insurer directly to confirm before your first session.
Why do some clients choose self-pay?
Two reasons come up most. The number of sessions you need is decided between you and your clinician rather than by an insurance company, and insurers sometimes limit both the length and number of sessions they will cover, which can interrupt work that is going well.
What if I'm out of network?
You can request a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends entirely on your plan.
How do I pay?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we require an active card on file.
What's the cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled with less notice, or missed, are charged a $105 fee. This fee can't be billed to insurance.
What happens in the first session?
Mostly listening. We talk about what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping changes. You don't need to have it organized or explain everything at once.
Do you see clients outside Raleigh?
Yes. Telehealth is available anywhere in North Carolina. Coaching, which isn't clinical care, is available more broadly.
Do I have to be “bad enough” to come in?
No. There is no threshold to clear and no quiz to pass. People often wait longer than they need to, because they are comparing themselves to someone worse off. If it is costing you time, money, sleep or people, that is reason enough.
