Dr. Lamont Barnett
Ph.D., LCAS, MAC, CPLC, CNHP
Over the years, I have acquired extensive knowledge in a variety of disorders including: major depressive disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, autism, bipolar I & II disorder, cyclothymic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (combined), intellectual developmental disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and an assortment of other disorders. Along my journey I have obtained various certifications and licensures in the fields of mental health and addiction. My list of board licensures and certifications include: Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC), Certified Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), and Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP). I gained the experiences aforementioned by working in services such as Outpatient Therapy settings (OPT), Intensive In-home (IIH), Community Support Team (CST), Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP), and Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT). After earning my MS in Psychology in 2015, I began working in academia as an Adjunct Psychology Professor at Wesleyan University part-time while continually practicing therapy. Then upon completion of my PhD in Psychology I was inspired to start my own practice, in the effort to positively affect social change using the credentials and experiences. Throughout my career I have learned a great deal about the connection between our mental, physical, and spiritual health. By establishing LHB Counseling, I am privileged to have the creative freedom to bridge the gap between clinical and holistic therapies. I am most notable for approaches including: solution focus, person-centered, mindfulness-based, reality therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, humanistic/existential, psychoeducation, and cognitive behavior therapies to address the whole person and not the symptoms alone. My non-judgemental methods of therapy will empower individuals while promoting mindfulness. Therapy is a learning experience for both the client and the clinician; hence we take a collaborative attitude to treatment.

In addition to my Montessori certification, I also hold certifications in Ensuring Well-being, Promoting a Growth Mindset, Taking Care of the Body, Take Care of the Mind, and Project-based Learning in elementary education from Oxford University.
